Summer Night
0A breeze is in my hair
And moonlight on my face
I’ve never found myself to be
In such a perfect place
I hear the gentle song
Of crickets in the grass
Another gorgeous Summer night
Will come and go too fast
With fireflies in the field
And bullfrogs in the lake
I wish that life would be this calm
Tomorrow when I wake
Still time will move along
As we fly ’round the Sun
And when we’re old and grey we’ll see
That time has just begun
Come Show Me
0Come show me
Show me how to laugh and smile and sing
Show me how to dance to the rhythm of life
Show me we can be larger than the world
And still fit inside
Evolve
2In honor of LGBT History Month, my latest blog post is a poem I wrote just after coming out to my family.
Each moment is brand new
My own life is constantly evolving
Just as the water runs downstream
Sometimes I flow gently
Then find rapids, crashing into boulders
At times, I must simply ride along
As I go blindly over a cliff
And go down the falls
I find a new place in life
No time to turn back
But only to look forward optimistically
Knowing whatever lies ahead
I always overcome
If I crash, I recover
And continue flowing toward my dreams
My own life is constantly evolving
Just as the water runs downstream
Sometimes I flow gently
Then find rapids, crashing into boulders
At times, I must simply ride along
As I go blindly over a cliff
And go down the falls
I find a new place in life
No time to turn back
But only to look forward optimistically
Knowing whatever lies ahead
I always overcome
If I crash, I recover
And continue flowing toward my dreams
